Among these unique and impressive ceremonies; Meskel(Finding
of the true cross), Gena(Ethiopian Christmas), Timket(Epiphany),
and Fasika(Easter), are Christian celebrations. People dress
in traditional and colorful costumes throughout the country.
Islamic traditions are also celebrates religious festivals notably,
muharram, Milad-an-Nabi and Eid-ul-fitr. These may share origins
with Christian, Moslem and tribal festivals else where in the
world, but have unique indigenous characteristics in Ethiopia.

Lalibela is a city once has been the thriving capital of medieval dynasty with the site of eleven remarkable rock-hewn monolithic churches, now considered as the eighth wonder of the world, believed to have been built by king Lalibela in the late 12th century. These most impressive churches are carved out of the pink granite rock, decorated with fascinating paintings, and the magic atmosphere created by the colorful crowd of priests, hermits, pilgrims, and prayers.

Travel tips
While closing depends on the season of the year, it is best to remember that Ethiopians are fairly conservative in their dresses.
- Summer clothes can be warm during the day time but in the evening when it is cooler a sweater or jacket is recommended.
- If visiting during the rainy season of intend to go trekking in the mountains you should also bring warm water proof clothing.
- General foot wear when visiting historical and cultural sites should be light weight but robust- not sandals.
- The sun can be very strong in low latitude, so a strong sunscreen is important.
